About West Newbury

West Newbury is located in Essex County 31 miles north of Boston.  It is bordered by Newburyport on the east, Newbury and Groveland on the south, and separated by the Merrimack River from Haverhill on the west and from Merrimack and Amesbury on the north. This quintessential New England town has a population of 4,149 people, and a tax rate of $10.17 per $1,000.

Our Schools

The Pentucket Regional School District promotes “a culture of continuous learning” and serves the towns of Groveland, Merrimac, and West Newbury.  Most students attend elementary school in their hometown, which in West Newbury is the Dr. John C. Page School (Pre-K-6th grade). The Pentucket Regional Middle School and Pentucket Regional High School are both located in West Newbury.  Private schools near West Newbury are plentiful, ranging from parochial schools such as Sacred Heart School to prep schools like The Governor’s Academy.
