Newburyport is 30 miles north of Boston where the Merrimac River meets the Atlantic Ocean.  (Portland, ME, is just 70 miles away; while New York City is 255 miles away.)  The population is 17,465, with tax rate of $10.52 per $1,000.  Commuting to and from Boston is easy: You can hop on to I-95 and drive into Boston – a commute that takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on traffic – or take the MBTA commuter rail to Boston’s North Station (a one-hour trip).

Our Schools

The Newburyport public schools have a well-deserved reputation for academic rigor. The school system has recently been reconfigured and affects pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Pre-kindergarteners and kindergarteners now attend the G. W. Brown School. First through third graders, the Bresnahan School and third and fourth graders, the Molin Upper Elementary School. MIddle schoolers will continue to attend the R.A. Nock middle school and a high schoolers the Newburyport High School. You have a range of choices for private schools, from Newburyport Montessori School and Immaculate Conception School (Pre-K – 8) to The Governor’s Academy (formerly known as Governor Dummer Academy) in nearby Byfield, MA.
